Welcome and Blessings!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I have named this blog "Running to the Cross" because that is what I often find myself doing...running to be with my Lord Jesus! I often cover many aspects of life on my blog, as it is my journal. I used to write things down in all sorts of notebooks, but my writings would soon be lost. So I decided that it was time to start a blog and share my thoughts and ideas with others. Many topics you will find here are prayers, homemaking and organization, children and pregnancy, funny stories, and the challenges of parenting and motherhood. If you enjoy my blog and leave me a comment, you are likely to have me visit! I love meeting others and gleaning from the lives of others. May you be blessed! Your friend in Christ, Heather

Life since baby girl...

Wow, has life been busy!!! It seems that I never have time anymore to stop and breathe... Today, at least right now, I am stopping for a moment to write...I have neglected this journal of sorts for a great long while and I just need to vent a little...

Since baby girl was born, I have been VERY busy. My five-year-old loves her so much that I have to watch her VERY carefully...she likes to pick up baby girl and carry her around... Yes, it is dangerous, nerve-wracking, and sometimes overly helpful. She just loves her sister SO much!!

I also have to try to balance the times when my 4-year-old and five-year-old hold baby girl...they tend to fight over who gets to hold her...AND if the other gets to hold her, then the other one cries... To them, she is a living baby doll! Baby girl does really well with it, but it does stress me out some.

My almost 9-year-old son is excellent with baby girl, he just loves her to pieces...even though he really wanted a baby brother.

MOVING
I'm changing the subject for those of you that have a hard time following me! I like to give a warning sign...it was one of the hardest things for my husband to get used to...me changing subjects that is!!!

On to our moving process...well, I have been packing boxes, and trying to get all of my laundry washed and sorted out. I am not keeping everything, and I have decided to get rid of all my boy's clothes for the time...with the exception of newborn clothing. I just don't want to move that stuff again, you know?

I have probably gotten rid of 7-8 trash bags of clothing already, and there is more to get rid of yet. I am also going to get rid of some toys...we have too many!!! The thing is, that my attic is full of stuff that I haven't used since we moved in here...if I haven't used it in 5 years, why keep it? It obviously isn't doing me any good except causing me a bit of stress...everytime I think of the attic, I get a little frustrated.

Anyway...this moving thing is probably the hardest thing I have had to do in a long time!!! Any tips you have for me, I am sure will be helpful!

EVERYTHING ELSE...
Well everything else is going well. We haven't dealt with too much sickness this season, and we are still yet waiting to see snow. I am hoping the snow comes after we move, since we are moving to a place two hours away from here (and changing states).

I have been steadily losing this extra baby weight, so far I have lost all the weight I gained from my pregnancy except 5 pounds and I plan to lose an extra 15 to get back down to my goal weight.

We have been enjoying weekly fellowship with a dear Christian family that lives near us...it has been a true blessing! We won't have that when we move, but we will still drive up here to go to church each week...we can visit them some then.

Besides that, I don't have much to say, except I can't wait till things settle down again...if that ever happens...

I haven't been able to visit any blogs lately...I have had to limit my computer time.

I hope things are going well for you!
Blessings!
Heather

I have some of the same problems with my kids and holding the baby...my 2 yr old wants to hold him and she is only about 5lbs heavier than him,LOL.

My basement sounds just like your attic!! I have TONS of clothes saved too..hand me downs so I don't have to buy new clothes..ugh..I have about 30 containers. Seriously. I was thinking about getting rid of most of them and just keeping the very nice and special ones. o.k sorry for rambling.....
I will be praying that everything goes well with your move :-)
p.s. Congratulations on your weightloss!!

Hello! I got tired just reading your post this morning! :) Just a note about the moving ... My husband is a pastor, and we have moved many times -- far more than I would have liked, really! With each move I became more efficient and rather expert at the process! I'm not sure if you are hiring movers or doing it all yourself (I couldn't imagine doing that with so many kids!), but with my last move, while we had movers pack up most of our stuff and move it, I did end up packing quite a bit myself (simply because I didn't really trust them). And the key to the success of it all was this : LABEL LABEL LABEL! I became Super-Organized-Woman, invested in Sharpie Markers and sticker labels, etc. I would pack up a box of something, and label WHERE it would go in my new home. That way, the movers would know exactly where to put it, instead of asking me every other second, "Where does this go?" We also had an attic full of stuff which basically would go from our old attic to our new one. Instead of using up my markers, I would just stick a colored label on each box -- neon orange -- so the movers knew that each orange stickered box immediately went to the new attic. Even if you're not using movers, this method could help you too avoid some confusion. Anyway, this might not be how you operate, but I just thought I'd say how helpful it was for us.

Best wishes on your adventure! Hang in there!

I forgot to add one thing about the labeling that I did, and that worked incredibly well. If you ARE having movers do the packing for you (often companies will do both), and again -- that's what we did -- I went around the house and hung up signs, instructing the movers where to put things and how they should label their own boxes. For example, I would hang up a piece of paper with large letters that said, "All items in this closet go to (BLANK)" or "All items in this bookcase go (BLANK)." You get the idea. That was such a HUGE help. But if you're not using movers ... well, it's a moot point. :) But just in case, I thought might help.

Enjoy your day!

I imagine right now you're somewhere between 'here' and 'there' and all that it entails. I pray that it goes smoothly, you get everyone and everything where it should be safely, and that the Lord greatly increases the blessings on your family through this new adventure!
